What is Neurodevelopmental Therapy?

Neurodevelopmental therapy is a non-invasive programme of movements which aims to promote development of the nervous system and the inhibition of primitive reflexes.  By incorporating movements which are used naturally by a baby and a young child, the nervous system is gently encouraged to mature and become more open to learning.

During the Therapy, your child will have a set of specific movements which are performed every day for approximately 5-10 minutes.  Both you and your child are guided by me, your therapist through the full programme and I will review progress with you both at regular intervals.

A complete programme generally lasts for between 12-18 months.

How Reflex Integration Therapy Works:

Reflex integration therapy identifies retained reflexes and works to inhibit them through specific, gentle movement patterns. These movements are designed to mimic the developmental stages that a child may have missed or not fully completed.

The approach I use is based on the INPP Method, which offers a structured, research-informed framework for assessing and supporting neurodevelopmental immaturity.

Therapy Involves:

*A initial questionnaire

* A comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessment

* A tailored home movement programme (typically 5–10 minutes daily)

* Parental support and guidance

* Review sessions every 6–8 weeks to update and monitor progress

What Improvements Can Be Seen?

As reflexes become integrated and the nervous system begins to function more efficiently, you may notice improvements in:

* Attention and concentration

* Emotional regulation

* Reading and writing ability

* Gross and fine motor skills

* Coordination and balance

* Sleep patterns and overall confidence

Why This Matters?

Children with retained reflexes are often misunderstood or misdiagnosed. They may be labelled as lazy, distracted, or defiant—when in reality, their brain and body are just working harder than they should be. Reflex integration therapy gives them the chance to build the neurological foundations they may have missed, opening the door to easier learning and living.
